The generic way of exporting block and block snapshots over the
network in the enterprise storage/virt arena is quite often NBD. For
backups a lot of enterprise platforms use NDMP. There's NBD support in
the kernel with a number of user space tools and services already in
Fedora. Not sure whether it needs fs level support or what you want to
do with it but they might help.
