gtkpref doesn't look very different, but graphics updates seem more
"bursty" for lack of a better word. Ie, I change desktops and 'snap'
everything updates.

I'm not sure if I would call it unusable, but it's getting there. ;)

So, perhaps CONFIG_DMA_API_DEBUG is causing things to be more bursty or
not as smooth.

rc6.git1.1 enabled ext4 debugging.  git0.1 was the DMA debug, though
it's cumulative so it's still enabled in git1.1.  Are you using ext4
for your filesystems?

I'm using ext4 and things do seem to be a bit slower with the last couple kernels. I am continuing to disable slub debuging at boot.
