Look at what else was updated in yum.log when you updated to that
kernel version. It's likely that some userspace component was also
updated and included in the initramfs that was built for that kernel
and any subsequent kernels.

I uninstalled one of the kernels,
then reinstalled with rpm -ivh --force.
it spurted out lines about missing symbols.
So wiil stick the onto the bz
