Agreed -- I actually made a bit noise about exactly this on LKML one or
two weeks ago, as even a regression from 2.6.20/2.6.21 I hit was only
fixed in 2.6.23-git and not in 2.6.22-stable.

In case you don't want to get everything from the alsa devel tree and
instead cherry-pick fixes and small improvements I hereby volunteer to
to that. I've never done something like that before, but I think I
should be able to manage that and I suppose its a good area to learn
something new.
