If you right click on any widget, clock or even the application launcher (see
attached)  there is an option to "show panel configuration" this takes you into
edit mode.

In which you can see "Add Widgets".


And you should also see 'Enter Edit Mode'.
Once in edit mode, hovering over any widget gives you a menu with a "Remove" option.

There is no corresponding "Delete Widgets", not any obvious way to achieve that goal.
