Never heard of something called THE and it doesn't seem to be in the
standard repos (I looked for 'the', 'THE' and 'hessing' with no
results). What is this?


It's a crazy old editor[1]
"Based on the IBM mainframe editor XEDIT, and includes many features of Kedit."
It's code hasn't been touched in 10 years [2]
