As I mentioned, saving a session via the desktop has been disabled in F34.  At least that has been my experience.

But, you can still save a session from the command line.

qdbus org.kde.ksmserver /KSMServer org.kde.KSMServerInterface.saveCurrentSession

And it will be restored with the appropriate System Settings.
