Well, in the preferences there is a check-box for the systray.
What Preferences? I don't see anything in the Kickoff settings, nor in
the general System Settings. The ktorrent settings has a toggle to show
a systray icon (which is turned on) but no such icon is present.

Also, if you "Configure Systray" when ktorrent is running you'll see
it listed in Entries if it is.
The systray is visible (I didn't even know it could be turned off), but
I don't see how to configure it.

Those 2 queries were based on if the GUI wasn't showing.  I could provide screenshots if
needed but I don't think those are causing your issue.

I would also use
   to look
for stray entries or should I say entries that have been missed?
I'll have to read that attentively.
You may also want to check out "man systemd-xdg-autostart-generator"
I'll look at that.

Also, you may want to do another "test".  Going to "System Settings" and "Startup and Shutdown" then
in Desktop Session enter ktorrent in "Don't restore these applications".
