Is there a desktop calendar widget that can show KOrganizer events? Or
at least show events from an iCalendar file?

Never mind, after searching a while, I found that it's been available since version 16.08. I checked the calendar widget settings and found the relevant settings to enable events from Korganizer calendar(s).

However, when the calendar widget is placed on the desktop, it only highlights the dates which have some events - there's no way to see what event it is. For that I have to open the clock widget on the panel that has an optional event display area. Anyway, at least that much is available.

Sorry for the noise.
