Some application(s) on your system are using up all X client connections 
(the limit is ~256 if I recall).

When/if this happens, try quiting an app or closing a window or 2, then in a 
konsole/terminal, try running:
xlsclients

It will tell you all X clients currently running (hopefully will help you 
identify some culprit app)
