True... my main issue was comment #45 which was made almost immediately

I have to agree with you on that one, it looks a bit over the top. But I think
that the bug thread is missing the part of the discussion that was done on
mailing list (supposedly), therefore we don't have full picture of what
insults may have been done there and which side of the timeline from the fix.

I see lots of comments, so many people care. However there are a lot of
negative comments, so working on such a bug is pretty disheartening for a developer.

When I read stuff that is nasty, mean or abusive, I often find something else to do. Remember that this is a hobby for almost all developers.

Another way to look at this is "why haven't you fixed it in the last six months". If you don't know how, why haven't you learned?
