I find more or less the same problem on two laptops,
admittedly both Thinkpads (T61 and T510).
Could the problem have something to do with hardware?
It seems unlikely.
Someone said they had found a cure for the problem,
but had forgotten what it was.
If I found a cure I would definitely not forget it,
as this bug is driving me mad.
