I'm a little unclear about this... exactly how is this planned to be
accomplished.  Does this mean Firefox will
now be installed for all KDE users - or is this only going to impact
people who use the Live CD?  Is everyone
going to have to live with Firefox even if they don't want it?

how do you come to that conclusion?

there are many applications installed by default and you can just remove them as long there are no dependencies - why should add Firefox to the default setup have a different handling from the viewpoint of the package manager?
