I have it installed. But Skype still does not make it into the new
system tray, nor the old one, either. I have to keep it in the Task
Manager.
How did you install skype ? I'm suspecting it may be bundling it's own
(unpatched) copy of Qt.

Long ago (years ago) I installed Skype from the skype.com site. Once I
had it, I didn't want to mess with it, because sometimes an RPM runs
into an insurmountable issue and won't install, and I didn't want to
risk that.
