Hi again
While this prescription seems to work for the current user and the
configuration (as well as other panel customisations) seems to be saved
in a file /home/<user>/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc,
when I copy that file to /etc/xdg it doesn't seem to be used by a new
account as the default panel configuration in the same way that eg a
copy of kwinrc in /etc/xdg is.
Does the configuration of the default panel work in a different way?
Thanks
Roderick

One way I like to do it, is run the app in question, then in the task
manager, right click it's entry and check the box labeled:
"show a launcher when not running"
(This works in both plasma5 and kde-workspace-4.x)

Subject: Adding application launchers to Plasma 5 panel
Hi again
In kde4 I can right-click on an application in the kickoff start menus
and select 'Add to panel'.
How would I add an application launcher to the panel in Plasma 5? There
is apparently no 'Add to panel' and drag and drop doesn't seem to work
except to the desktop.
Thanks.
