I paste to vim no problem , I paste to evolution no problem , also no
problem in kmail , I don't have thunderbird to test it . 

in konsole -> settings -> edit profile -> mouse 
I got checked copy on select 
not checked trim trailing spaces

Mouse middle  button: paste on selection
