I'm afraid you are right.  It is not fixed.

Unfortunately, for me, the problem is being hidden by other things.

I expunged all the gmail trash and cleaned up gmail folders.  I must wait 
until I have accumulated mail.  It seems the problem is related to either the 
amount of mail or the age of the mail.

Also, unfortunately for me, I have to stop akonadi, for other reasons leading 
to "false" results.  My desktop is old.  It has 1 gig of ram.  If I try to run 
kmail/akonadi/friends with firefox or google-chrome, my system freezes for 
several seconds, page swapping.  I need a new desktop when I can afford one.

I must wait until I see the problem again.  When I do, I will use wireshark.
