I often use du -h --max-depth=1 to get a quick read on what
subdirectories are hogging space. By limiting the depth, the
report doesn't get overwhelming. If necessary, I'll drill down in
a particular subdirectory.
du -sh *
is easier to type. :-)
It seems that indirectly the KMail2 problems are causing my lack of
space. I have the akonadi DB, but then Thunderbird is taking up a
whopping 53.4GB! Desperate decisions are needed :-(
cd .thunderbird
du -sh *
Keep digging down until you find where gigabytes of space are being
used. Most likely in ImapMail under your profile directory.
