Try restarting NetworkManager when this starts to happen. I know I had
to fight with it quite a bit on my laptop before it finally got stable.
I am a revision behind though.


Both times I first tried system NetworkManager restart, but it just hung until I
hit the power switch (OK, I didn't wait too long, but I was afraid of some log
files filling up)

Yeah, it took quite a while (at least a minute) to restart when I was having the problems.
