I had this with 4.5.95 and then also with 4.6.1 my temporary fix was to quit 
Kmix and remove/move the kmix files in .kde/share/apps/kmix and 
.kde/share/config

Not ideal but works..

Here are some similar bug reports @ kde.bugs and look it likes it could be 
fixed in #237239
