We're still waiting for that. It has been promised for at least 2 releases
now. Our kernel maintainers refuse to merge the patch before Linus accepts
it upstream.

IMHO, if we get LZMA compression, we'll definitely want to try sticking to
700 MiB. Bumping up the size is only an option we're considering because
we're really out of space.
