I've never met this problem before, and am at a loss as to how to tackle it. This is on a new laptop, suitably partitioned, ready for an install. Attempt 1 - Fedora 12 DVD. Spins up, text messages whizz past, screen goes blank, disk stops spinning - and nothing happens. Attempt 2 - Fedora KDE Live CD - Spins up, text messages whizz past, screen goes blank, the disk continues to spin. Eventually the startup sound is heard - but there is still nothing on screen.
