Personal Contacts seems to be the default label for the migrated addressbook. After talking to one of the developers I wrote up what he had told me on http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi_and_AddressBook#Examining_your_Resources I'm not sure how that tallies with what you saw - does it help at all? Still, the main thing is that you have it working now, although I'd love to know the reason.
