kmix not working with pulseaudio for some systems

Hi

So far I've got Fedora 12 running on some (x86_64) systems with two
different sound cards. For the ones with sound card A kmix is able to
control the volume. For the ones with sound card B kmix is unable to
control the volume.

I'd like some help in getting kmix to work with system B please.

Here are some details...

linux A> cat /proc/asound/cards
  0 [Live ]: EMU10K1 - SB Live! 5.1 [SB0220]
                       SB Live! 5.1 [SB0220] (rev.10, serial:0x100a1102)
at 0xac00, irq 18

linux B> cat /proc/asound/cards
  0 [Audigy2 ]: Audigy2 - SB Audigy 4 [SB0610]
                       SB Audigy 4 [SB0610] (rev.0, serial:0x10211102)
at 0x1000, irq 18

System settings / Multimedia shows that both systems are using
Pulseaudio for the Output device (hovering over this displays "xine
audio output plugin using pulseaudio sound server).

To get audible sound, in pavucontrol I have to set:

system A requires the Configuration tab to have the profile set to
"Analogue Stereo Duplex"

system B requires the Configuration tab to have the profile set to
"Digital Stereo (IEC958) output + Analog Stereo input"

For system A kmix can control the volume.

For system B I cannot get kmix to control the volume; nothing happen
when I change the sliders.

Can anyone suggest how to make kmix control volume on system B.

Thanks

Roderick
