I ran into issues with wine. I'm using NVidia, so the problem is not confined to ATI chipsets. and reported the problem and after much qa at: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=507589 If I were you, I would report the problem against kde so that more than one source and more than one issue gets pushed at the xorg people from more than one direction.
