I did a fair number of updates last night, including KDE 4.2 packages and 'kmod-nvidia-173.14.15-1.fc9.10.i686'. Normally, when I there is a problem with kmod-nvidia, X crashes right away. However KDM seems to work just fine. But as soon as I log in, the loader win comes up, then the monitor flickers (suggesting that X restarted) The end result is that I couldn't log in to KDE this morning and was too busy to create a new user. I have a secondary 'guest' user on the same machine, but that account couldn't log in either. So I am debugging this remotely (no X). So I would like a suggestion on what to do about this. I didn't have similar problems on my updates-testing machine, but it may not have the same kmods. Last time I tried to switch back to nv, i basically couldn't. So if that is going to be a suggestion, could some one let me know how to disable desktop effects from the command line? KDE simply won't startup with nv last time i tried. -- Fedora 9 : sulphur is good for the skin ( www.pembo13.com ) -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
