Might be worth you getting the 180.29 rpms from rpmfusion testing. X very stable for me with this driver and KDE4.2 on all 3 of my boxes - 7900GTO, 8800GTX and GTX260. Have an autostart script 'nvidia-settings -a InitialPixmapPlacement=2 -a GlyphCache=1', but I think these are defaults now. xorg.conf - only 'Option' setting is "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True".
