mdapi is one of the service used to populate the xapian search index.
The fedora-packages backend is providing the API to the xapian
database to perform the full text search. If we were to use
elasticsearch we would still need to have an indexing script but we
could rely on elasticsearch API and query language for the search
capabilities.
