Sure, we could do this, but we are going to need to do a bunch of other
things to get getfedora.org enabled in production, so perhaps we should
just wait and do it at the same time?

Yes we can,
it's just that the stg website actually is not pulling the po files automatically from TX to give translators the possibility to look at their changes and the context of the strings. I'm doing this manually right now and can also continue.
