I can input Chinese in the gtk combo boxes (see attached). So does it mean gtk has no problem?
Right so gtk2 should be ok. I wonder what the problem is...? I haven't haerd any similar reports about this so it might be a local problem on your machine. If you think it is a caused by a bug could you please file a report in bugzilla so we can investigate further.
