Hello there, With the help and support from Fedora Eclipse team, this week we've set up 3 plugins for HDL IP development and documentation. These plugins has been filed for package review. * eclipse-eclox - https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=506429 * eclipse-texlipse - https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=506431 * eclipse-veditor - https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=505017 These plugins will help digital IC designers/FPGA designers develop Verilog/VHDL code on eclipse. veditor, the eclipse plugin for HDL provides a realtime error and warnings notification of typos, missing signals, unnecessary signals etc.. If the vhdl code entails doxygen style comments, a pdf can be autogenerated and used either during internal meetings or sent to the client. Since the pdf is generated from latex, the texlipse plugin will provide some additional page layout formatting and easy pdf creation. One thing which impresses me is that the pdf creation is now only Ctrl-S, rather than a manual click like one would do on kile. That said, if these plugins enter fedora repostories, I will remove kile from the FEL livedvd. Other additional plugin worth talking are epic for perl, egit for git and subclipse (and are yum-able). Hence if your perl scripts well can be properly maintained along side with your HDL code. With either cvs,git or svn you can share, distribute and manage your hdl code and scripts for digital designed. These eclipse plugins will ease the entrace of a new feature for F-12 : Collaborative Code review. I will talk about it later on.
