do you have any success in the Solaris 10 Sparc problem?
There was some discussion about the architecture specific locking code. I guess they mean slapi_counter.c.
There is for Solaris Sparc still used the old netscape/iplanet assembler code whereas for Solaris x86 is the simple architecture independent mutex based locking is used.
Could this be your problem?
