%{make_install} and the Perl/Tips wiki

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,

I'm reviewing

	https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/perl-Scalar-List-Utils/pull-request/1

which references

	https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/packaging-guidelines/#_parallel_make
and
	https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Perl/Tips#ExtUtils::MakeMaker

and I'd like to clean up some confusion I have. The

	https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Perl/Tips#ExtUtils::MakeMaker

starts by promoting

	make pure_install DESTDIR

but then goes to recommend

	perl Makefile.PL NO_PERLLOCAL=1

However, it does not mention %{make_install}.

Would it make sense to start the section with the best-practice
examples, and move the "historical" approach that is no longer
promoted to separate list?
