Try moving eclipse.ini from /usr/share/eclipse to /usr/lib (or lib64)/eclipse and making it look something like this (the last line is key): -showsplash org.eclipse.platform -vmargs -Xms40m -Xmx256m --XX:MaxPermSize=128m HTH, Andrew
