  It seems we have made lots of progress with FOP and Batik since the

Batik is working much better on Classpath now. I don't know what areas of Batik are used by DocBook, however, so I don't know how well we do in this regard.

I've been working mostly off of the standard sample files that come with Batik, but I can concentrate on this if we know what areas are needed. I haven't heard of any other progress on the FOP/DocBook front.
