java-1.4.2-gcj-compat-plugin commented out

Hi,

the java-1.4.2-gcj-compat-plugin package was a good preview of things to come for FC6test2, but GNU Classpath's security implementation is still too immature for the plugin to be loaded by Firefox by default. See:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=204728

I've commented out java-1.4.2-gcj-compat-plugin from java-1.4.2-gcj-compat, and made the latest java-1.4.2-gcj-compat obsolete java-1.4.2-gcj-compat-plugin <= 1.4.2.0-40jpp.104, so the plugin will not be loaded by Firefox by default.

java-1.4.2-gcj-compat-plugin installed a symlink from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin.so to /usr/lib/gcj-4.1.1/libgcjwebplugin.so. The latter is owned by the libgcj RPM. My plan was to continue to install /usr/lib/gcj-4.1.1/libgcjwebplugin.so (without installing any symlinks, so that Firefox would not load the plugin by default), so that adventurous users could still do:

cd ~/.mozilla/plugins
ln -s /usr/lib/gcj-4.1.1/libgcjwebplugin.so .

There would still be the security warning dialog asking whether or not to load a given applet.

What do people think of this plan?

Tom
