OK. You "can" do yum remove libgcj. HOWEVER, THIS WILL REMOVE OPEN OFFICE, ECLIPSE, AND ALL JAVA PACKAGES - because yum remove is dumb and doesn't know about alternative JDK packages. I suggest you start learning to like JPackage. As for non-free not being easy, there are now -compat packages so it's as easy as installing the Sun JDK RPM and then installing the -compat RPM from jpackage.org.
