People,

I successfully created a VM with the default AMI image in the Virginia
region and after allocating an EIP, could ssh to it with no problems but
after creating a Sydney VM with ami-e3a433d9 and allocating an EIP,
trying to to ssh eg:

   ssh -i sydney.pem root@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

fails with timeouts . .

Any ideas/suggestions?

If you're using 'default' security group you should allow SSH (port 22), it's filtered out by default. I've just tried to create instance with ami-e3a433d9 and I've succeeded to access it.
