Eoghan,
The AMI I tried to run is ami-5f16d836 (a 32 bit image) which should run
just fine on m1.small.
AWS prevents us from running 64 bit images on 32 bit instances so I
couldn't even launch the instance if I used wrong AMI.
Good to know that ami-0316d86a works fine!

Hi Marek,
I've been using the following community AMI with no problem on both m1.tiny and m1.large:
AMI: Fedora-16-ec2-20111101-x86_64-sda (ami-0316d86a)
Being a 64bit image, it is not supported on m1.small.
Cheers,
Eoghan

To confirm this issue I tried to run ami-5f16d836 (on m1.small), also
without luck, but with different console log:

Yes, this is a full log, nothing more was printed, the instance is
unreachable.

Hey there,
I'm new to Amazon EC2 / Cloud providers in general, but I tried to
set
up using Fedora's F16 Images (Available here [1]) using
ami-5f16d836. It
apparently passes all of Amazon's checks, however I can't ping the
instance once it's fully set up. I decided to check the System Log
and
noticed this:
Determining IP information for eth0.../etc/init.d/functions: line
58:
/dev/stderr: Permission denied /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions: line 58:
/dev/stderr: Permission denied /etc/init.d/functions: line 58:
/dev/stderr: Permission denied /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions: line 58:
/dev/stderr: Permission denied
Complete logs for both the 32 bit and 64bit images can be seen
here:
32 bit: http://pastebin.com/DEcRaaDn
64 bit: http://pastebin.com/tvhqjJ1S
Anyone had better luck using Fedora's Amazon EC2 instances? Did I
do
something wrong during setup?
Thanks.
