Yes, these two commands are really all you need:
nmcli device wifi list
nmcli device wifi connect SSID --ask

> # nmcli -p -f general,wifi-properties device show wlan0

> # find /etc -name SSID.nmconnection -print # to locate config file automatically created by nmcli commands.
