The chip in the Pine64+ is the Allwinner A64 SoC, ARMv8 is the overall
designator for the generation of chip ISA that introduced 64 bit.

You need to write out the boot firmware else it can't boot. You can
this manually with dd post dd:ing out the image but I suggest you
using arm-image-installer. Details are here:
