newaliases is part of the sendmail package.  exim does not use
the binary (compiled) alias data that newaliases creates for sendmail,
but exim provides a newaliases file that does nothing so that users who
install exim do not have to change any scripts they may have that modify
the aliases file then invoke newaliases.

Note that Mail Transfer Agent is a facility the alternatives mechanism
configures.
