Fedora 21 Allwinner A10 Boot fails

Objective: boot F21 on MK802II Allwinner A10 headless and without serial console.
Installation instructions used were the "manual" ones from:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Architectures/ARM/F21/Installation
Have applied /usr/share/uboot/Mele_A1000/u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin using dd
and also tried /usr/share/uboot/Cubieboard/u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin

I am presuming that this step would have applied sun4i-a10-a1000.dtb
or have I missed a step?

Have set up wpa on the sdcard before booting using tips from
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/WpaSupplicant with edits of /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlan0

As well as the various user folders being empty as listed below the messages log file shows that the
following Services have failed
abrtd
firewalld
rngd
avahi-daemon
chronyd
sshd-keygen
systemd-logind
dbus
rtkit-daemon
ModemManager

Any tips on where to start looking?
Are there a number of steps to manually do what the firstboot script normally does by writing to the card before booting?
I need to have sshd start before login if I am to connect wirelessly - I have no usb ethernet adapter.

Thanks

I have applied /usr/share/uboot/Mele_A1000/u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin
using dd. This Mele device has shown a very high compatibility
previously with the MK802II. Other u-boot options that I could try might
be Cubieboard (1) and maybe A10-OLinuXino-Lime but less sure of this
last one.
Is my understanding correct that this step would have applied
sun4i-a10-a1000.dtb or have I missed a step?
