I've not got hdmi working regularly and repeatable so there's been no
announcement about the release of an image because there's currently
not one.

No

It's not, the BBone is a AM33xx SoC from TI, the BPi (never heard of
it until I just googled it) is based on an Allwinner A20. We don't
support any Allwinner devices in 3.14 and there's no BPi device tree
that's been upstreamed so while we'll support the A20 relatively well
with 3.15+ I have no idea when we'll support that device, you should
ask them when they're going to submit the device tree support to
mainline kernels.
