In X mode only, I presume?  I booted up in console mode, because nothing I need to do requires X, and past experience with ARM VMs taught me that booting in X mode was a recipe for making the process take twice as long.

Anyway, the image, as distributed, does not run anything on boot into console mode that would allow me to log in.  If booting once in X mode to create an initial user is required, perhaps *that* should be added to the wiki.
