I just downloaded a package from http://pidora.ca/pidora/releases/18/packages/armv6hl/os/Packages/l/ (specifically lshw)
and installed it on my RasPi using yum localinstall and it installed fine.

Really not sure what may be going on with your setup.

Did you make any progress beyond that?
