to make NetworkManager happy (replace those MACs with the ones on the mirabox label if you're doing this), since otherwise I still ended up with a new random MAC on every boot.

In case anyone interested, it appears kernel v3.11-rc1 and up contain a fix for the above, so the workaround should not be needed when using a kernel newer than that. Haven't tried it yet myself.
