I believe the disconnect you are seeing is that we have values but people don't see them reflected in the mission statement. From previous exercises in this, you have two important things: you start with Shared Core Values (SCV) you end up heading towards your Vision Statement (VS). A mission statement is how you take/use/recognize those values to get towards your vision. The We have a bunch of core values in our 4 F's. Freedom, Friends, Features, First We have a vision statement ( https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Vision_statement ): The Fedora Project creates a world where free culture is welcoming and widespread, collaboration is commonplace, and people control their content and devices. The mission statement (taken from https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Overview) is connect those two together: Old: The Fedora Project's mission is to lead the advancement of Free and open source software and content as a collaborative community. New: Fedora creates an innovative platform that lights up hardware, clouds, and containers for software developers and community members to build tailored solutions for their users. The old one does the verbal connecting by taking bits from each of the values and vision and stitching them together. The new one seems less of a match and so people are wondering if it needs new values or a new vision. -- Stephen J Smoogen. _______________________________________________ council-discuss mailing list -- council-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send an email to council-discuss-leave@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
