In fact even i thought for same (500/1000+ string) but was just wondering for numbers/budget etc. Since sprint happened recently and we have numbers ready through badge owners. Found it low hanging fruit. Same time, in long term we have to make tradition of sprint for each Fedora release. I am thinking developing T-shirt for sprint participants can bring more participation in future. Also this time T-shirt plan for sprint participant is surprise (if happens). But your point is valid, many participants participated for badge as well but that is one of the intention behind badges ;) I have requested Alex to provide stats with participants over last one year with significant contribution.
