We had to go forward with the 'traditional' way of naming for F19 because we just ran out of time to really discuss what people wanted.  We *will* be putting together a means for people to share their ideas about new naming schemas in the near future, though, and I encourage you to share this idea then.  AFAIK, the discussion around naming has said that we would want to start fresh on F20.

Specifically to the idea of using the periodic table, I personally like the idea.  Being a science person I think it would be fun to come up with ways to use the names and characteristics of the various atoms in our releases.  I believe someone else mentioned that Scientific Linux[0] was already doing this, though.  There is also no way of predicting if we'd come across any trademark issues that would require us to not be able to use a specific atom name in our release naming.  That said, I think we should still consider the possibility of using this OR a variation of this.
